The Energy and Environmental Policy Laboratory at the University of Piraeus was established in 2016, within the Department of International and European Studies of the School of Economics, Business and International Studies. The same School and Department hosts the Master Program in Energy: Strategy, Law and Economics, which is the leading multi-disciplinary program in energy in Greece and one of the most business-oriented relevant programs in Europe.
The Energy and Environmental Policy Laboratory, through the multi-disciplinary expertise of its staff, produces high quality, independent research in energy and environmental policy issues. It specialized in energy markets, energy-economy-environment (E3) modelling, environmental assessments and decisions making in energy and environmental policy issues. It elaborates research projects with the business, industry and energy sectors and disseminates its research work through its own Working Paper Series, international scientific journals, conferences and books.
The Energy and Environmental Policy Laboratory aims to contribute to the energy and climate change debates and to a more coherent, multi-disciplinary understanding of national, regional and international energy and environmental policy issues.
The Laboratory’s multidisciplinary expertise allows it to examine the economics, the politics and the legal aspects of energy and environmental policy issues. Our research activity focuses on the following areas:
– Modelling the Energy Markets and Energy Systems
– Energy and Environmental Regulation
– Energy and Environmental Policy
– Climate Change & Environmental Impact Assessments
